Minimum holiday entitlement

A quick reminder to all those small businesses that may have missed this one, from 1 October 2007 the minimum holiday entitlement was raised from 20 days to 24 days for a 5 day week. This can either include bank holidays of which there are eight, or it can be 24 days holiday plus bank holidays, it depends on what you have agreed with your staff - tip ensure you have either a letter or contract of employment for all staff.

For part-time staff the entitlement is the same but on a pro-rata basis.

From April 2009 this will increase to 28 days, so put it in your diary!

Don’t panic, Business Link have provided a free to use calculator to calculate how much annual leave your employee is due, just click here.
