In a recent news release the Federation of Small Business surveyed 2,826 small firms and discovered that 78% of them are trying to deal with employment paperwork themselves, and more worrying a third of them do not know where to get Government advice on legislation affecting small businesses.
My advice, don’t let the complexities of employment law stop you taking on new staff and expanding your business, either find a member of the Chartered Institute of Personnel and Development or a solicitor who has an employment law specialization, and let them guide you through the maze, or even just let them deal with it all while you get on with making your business more successful.
For the one third who say they don’t know where to find information on legislation affecting them, I am sure the government would be horrified that a third of small businesses don’t realise that Business Link have a vast website with lots of information covering grants, taxes and employing people.
And for those still unsure, give me a call and let Holden Associates be your guide.
