Local business making a splash

It’s always good to see local businesses doing well, and here is a great example.

Dolphin Music based in Liverpool, also with stores in Huddersfield and Gateshead, and an online presence started in 1999 by Robert Williams and Jason Tavaria has recently secured funding to meet its growing business needs.

In only 8 years these two entrepreneurs have built a business turning over £9 million and employing 56 staff, but that’s not the end, they are looking to further expand their sales in Germany, France and Spain.

So why am I blogging about this, simple, here are two University friends who came up with a business idea, in 1999 their business started from their shared house, and today it has grown to employ 56 people with revenues of £9 million, but this is not the end of their journey, they are now looking for further expansion, this is a great example to any entrepreneur thinking should I or shouldn’t I ?

If you have a passion for business, use it, don’t let a restrictive corporate structure drain it from you, get out there and do it, but please take some professional advice too.

    Hi Jason

I’m a customer of Dolphin music. They are my first port of call every time. They have got Amazon like efficiency, but with a good friendly and helpful telephone service. The best of both worlds for their customers.

Yes it’s good to see businesses that are getting customer relations right, it is so important and often lacking in the bigger business which IMO leaves a gap for the small business to fill with that personal ‘we care’ level of attention.
