I know what you’re thinking, what he is doing, posting about Christmas gift ideas on a blog aimed at business, well there is method in my madness.
Those who read my blog, are in business, they know how hard it is to run a business and even harder to make money at it, and then there’s the taxes, don’t get me started on the taxes …
Imagine if you lived in the poorest of countries, those that we are now used to seeing on the TV for as long as I can remember. My personal views are not relevant here, but the best way I see to help those in these countries is to truly allow them to help themselves, and that is what KIVA is all about.
KIVA allows you to sponsor a business, and for what is such a small sum of money for most of us, the aim is that the money is repaid, so potentially you may get it all back, if the entrepreneur in this developing country is a success that is.
I think here in the UK and in the US, Australia etc we think of entrepreneurs as being those who build big business, but here is where KIVA helps you put your feet back on the ground, the entrepreneurs they deal with only need loans of in many cases less than $1,000 (it is an US organisation that started this).
So as we enter this Christmas season, try another way of sharing round the cheer, I know I will.
