National Minimum Wage and National Living Wage rates

With effect from 1 October 2016 the following national minimum wage and national living wage hourly rates take effect:

Age From 1 October 2016 Previous Rate
National Living Wage £7.20 £7.20
Main rate for workers aged 21-24 £6.95 £6.70
Rate for 18-21 year olds £5.55 £5.30
Rate for 16-17 year olds £4.00 £3.87
Apprentice rates £3.40 £3.30

Please note: in future years both the National Minimum Wage and National Living Wage rates will be updated in April, starting in April 2017.
