With effect from 1 October 2016 the following national minimum wage and national living wage hourly rates take effect:

| Main rate for workers aged 21-24 | £6.95 | £6.70 |
| Rate for 18-21 year olds | £5.55 | £5.30 |
| Rate for 16-17 year olds | £4.00 | £3.87 |
| Apprentice rates | £3.40 | £3.30 |
Please note: in future years both the National Minimum Wage and National Living Wage rates will be updated in April, starting in April 2017.
